The Adult program focuses on four core principles:

disease and illness education, learning to identify triggers related to the illness, promoting healthy self-regulatory behaviors and prevention and wellness. These principles guide our treatment philosophy and provide a solid foundation for recovery.

These principles also help us to achieve our goal of delivering the best inpatient mental health services We realize that patients may come to our unit for care under difficult circumstances, and we are dedicated to working together to facilitate a healthy and effective process of healing.

Adult Psychiatric Specific

The Acute Psychiatric Inpatient program offers treatment to adults, ages 18 and older, who are struggling with mental health issues, such as:

  • Suicidal feelings or thoughts
  • Extreme anger or dangerous behavior
  • Anxiety or panic attacks
  • Schizophrenia
  • Depression
  • Hallucinations or delusional thinking
  • Phobias
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Physical or sexual abuse
  • The use of drugs or alcohol accompanied by a psychiatric diagnosis
  • Substance abuse

Our inpatient program offers:

  • An intensive, therapeutic structure
  • Psychiatric and crisis stabilization
  • Customized treatment plans for each individual
  • 24-hour nursing care
  • Discharge Planning

Our team works with each patient to provide an individualized treatment plan. The main focus of the plan is to relieve symptoms of emotional crisis and help the patient regain control of his or her life.

Evaluation

The treatment process at our Inpatient psychiatric programs begins with a complete diagnosis and evaluation that includes:

  • Clinical interview
  • Physical examination
  • Social and psychological assessments
  • Special therapeutic and addictions evaluation
  • Psychiatric evaluation

Treatment and Follow Up

A team of healthcare professionals, led by the patient’s psychiatrist, develops a plan of therapies tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Some patients may require special medications to correct biochemical disturbances. The program includes:

  • Individual and group therapies
  • Expressive therapies
  • Coping skills training
  • Groups specifically designed for the older adult
  • Addiction education
  • Aftercare meetings
  • Discharge planning
  • Family therapy
  • Medication management

We begin planning for each patient’s successful return to their community and daily life as soon as they are admitted. These plans may include continuing care with our attending physician, an outpatient treatment program or other community resources.

The average length of stay: 7-14 days. Length of hospitalization is entirely dependent on the patient’s progress and the professional opinion of their treatment team. Weekly team meetings are completed with the patient to discuss progress throughout their stay. While hospitalized, individuals will be assigned a multi-disciplinary treatment team to assist in meeting their own specific needs.

Our program’s multidisciplinary approach draws upon a full range of treatment methods and techniques, including psychiatric assessment, neuropsychological and psychosocial evaluations, individual and group therapy, behavioral interventions, medication evaluation and management, and psychosocial assessment.
